Go Native

December 25th, 2009 by Don

The idea of going native, is something that as an accusation, should be rarely if ever, well received, that being the case we should look to take on the Irish pretender in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

This race has cutĀ up pretty badly, leaving only the selection and Binocular as genuine contenders. Go Native, the Supreme Novice Hurdle winner of last season, has such a short price in this market, by dint of his surprising win in the Fighting Fifth some weeks ago.

The sectional anoraks will tell you, that as a genuine two mile hurdle, this was somewhat of a joke, as the field dawdled for the opening twelve furlongs before resolving to sprint for the line. The presence of previous winner, Straw Bear, we can assume is as pacemaker for Binocular, so there should be no dawdling on Saturday.

Go Native is eight pounds wrong, at level weights based on his official rating and that speaks volumes, yet he trades at 2/1 or so, that’s a really skinny price. Binocular was undercooked at Newcastle and obviously the race was not run to suit. He also pulled to hard early, tomorrow with a race under his belt, he is likely to be an entirely different proposition and is a very confident selection to overturn Go Native.

Happy Christmas
