Ingleby Arch Rival
October 21st, 2009 by Don
Just two days after having our nosed bloodies by Ingleby Arch at Southwell at the more than inconvenient odds of 4/1 he has popped up again over course and distance and gone in.
Why the surprise, why did you not learn your lesson, why throw up the nag again, every Donkeyite would be well and truly entitled to suggest?
Well, he was up six pounds for only a length and a quarter victory, in dour fashion it must be added and in a grade higher race today. In other words he was substantially raised and the margin of victory last time out, really did not seem to justify it.
In running players would and could have doubled up as well as the animal seemed onepaced at the two pole and would have traded at tasty prices, this particularly scribe kicking on again. However, he came with a withering stretch drive as the septic tanks might suggest and outstayed his rivals- ouch!.
Over at Navan there was a bit of a whisper if you will allow me some understatement for the chances of Forest Cross, he duly obliged and looks decent.
For all the PR guys associated with bookmakers, I wish they would address some of these NH quotes with a semblance of reality. Yes Pride of Dulcote looked a decent recruit to chasing today when beating trees at Worcester, but the quote of 16/1 for the RSA Chase is palpably laughable.
If you had the necessary resources to tie up a significant amount of bank for an event nearly five months away, you would lay any horse in any race quoted at less than 16/1 and still be quids in come March.
